Meeting JK Rowling

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series, but I have never been interested in JK Rowling, the author of the books. Then I saw this.
She is now at the top of my list of people to meet and have a conversation with. She seems as if she has lived a fascinating life and has experiences and insights that I would love to learn about. It's kind of long - but it's worth the watch.

Valentines Day

I know Valentine's Day is in the middle of February - and here I am on the very last day of the month attempting to blog about our experience. I've gotten really bad at this continual blogging. But - even a sad attempt at blogging is better than no blog at all. So here is what we did on Valentine's (with a few pictures).

While I was in the shower, my beautiful wife made me heart shaped, pink pancakes. They were amazing and so delicious. I loved having a fun breakfast ready for me when I got out of the shower - and the heart shapes made it even better. I knew it was going to be a great day just based off the first experience.

Caitlin also packed me a lunch. Everything in it was red (except the sandwich. the sandwich was heart shaped) and they all had little love notes taped to them. Such a great lunch!

Since I'm such a great husband and I let my wife use the car everyday, I'm stranded at work and don't have a lot of opportunities to plan surprises. BUT I ordered Caitlin flowers to be delivered to our apartment. Well when I got home those flowers had not yet arrived. Caitlin was a little disappointed, and I told her that since I didn't have the car I couldn't get flowers. So we ate dinner and began setting things up in our new apartment (since it was only our second day there we had a lot to do and figured that would be better than trying to have a romantic evening full of boxes). Around 8:00 p.m. the doorbell rang and it was the flower delivery boy. Finally! I can't believe they were out that late delivering flowers, but I was grateful that they finally arrived, and I think Caitlin enjoyed them as well. Better late than never, right?

So it was really low-key and not ultra romantic, but it was Valentine's Day - and it was great. Holidays when you're married are great. Can't wait for St. Patrick's Day!

Caitlin and I spent the majority of the weekend shopping and putting things together in our apartment. It was an enjoyable experience (although I think most things are enjoyable when you're newlyweds) and we found some great furniture at Ikea. But there were a few items we wanted to shop around for so we decided to hit up Wal-Mart and Target.

After 2 hours in Ikea, Walmart was the closest on the list so we went and found a few things on our list. We were getting tired, but we needed to check out Target before heading up to Bear River City for Caitlin's cousins wedding reception. The first thing on our list was a card to put on our gift for the reception. We found a card right away and threw it in the cart. We spent another 30 minutes browsing the aisles for things we needed. After visiting the last needed aisle we decide that it's probably time to go to the checkout and get up to the reception. We looked down in our cart and realized that we had been pushing around an empty cart the entire time! We only found the card for the gift and never added anything else to the cart. We didn't want to be embarrassed when we went to the checkout, so I went and returned the cart while Caitlin took our easily carryable card to the checkout. The card cost less than $1 and we didn't really need a card, but we for sure had a good time pushing around the bright red Target cart.

Coming Home

After two weeks of traveling around, getting married, honeymooning, and receptions, Caitlin and I finally settled into our new home in Provo, Utah! We're in the process of decorating and organizing, but we are thrilled about our new apartment. We spent all day Friday shopping for furniture and odds and ends. I'll be posting some pictures later once everything is finished. For now I wanted to post our first picture at our apartment.
This is at the front door at 10:00 p.m. when we finally arrived from Oregon. The Smith family decorated the stairs and our door and the sign said "Welcome to your first home." We were so excited! So strange that we're married and this is our first home together. Seems like we should be grown ups or something.

Provo Tabernacle

Caitlin and I have only been married for two weeks, and had barely been in Provo for 5 days, when a news reporter stopped us on the street and asked for an interview regarding the Provo Tabernacle renovation/parking structure.

We told him that we have only been in Provo for a week and he said that he would fill us in on anything we needed to know. So we were interviewed and made it into the Friday night news on ABC. Here's the clip in case you wanted to see the famous Graves family.

Valentines Blog?

I know most people are blogging about love and romance today since it's Valentine's Day - but I don't have that much time. So maybe just a funny video I found instead. :)
