Insanity

So I thought it was about time that I posted a picture of myself with my braces. I struggled a lot with them at first. There wasn't a lot of pain associated with them, more like embarrassment from having braces on my face. I'm over it now, and can laugh at myself. Well I really just wanted to write today, I'm in one of those moods.

This semester has been so busy, it is slightly overwhelming. My classes give an excessive amount of homework, and normally that is totally ok for me, but this semester is different. I'm working in Service Activities (which I love) and have been completely bogged down with publicity for the blood drive, special olympics, service fair and more. They all happen next week, so I never really got into the swing of things. I feel like I finally have a little bit more time, but not even. I have an online class that hates me and I have so much homework to do for that today. Too bad I left it at my apartment, and I'm now sitting in my car outside of the Smith building waiting for my good friend Julie to get out of class. We have an assignment we have to do together today.

One more thing I wanted to mention: dating.
I hate dating. It is not a fun experience and I feel a little forced into it. My apartment is having a group date this weekend, which normally I'm all for, but since Caitlin and I broke up I've normally gone on friend dates with girls I know. Well I decided to stretch myself and actually ask somebody who I've never been on a date with. So far I haven't found anyone to ask, nor have I had the desire to really search somebody out. So much pressure, yet no pressure at all. I'm not really going to search out my eternal companion, but it's still really hard asking people on dates. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be able to do it. I need to do it today or tomorrow at the latest though. My weekend is going to be crazy busy. Here it is:

Friday:
7:45-1:45 Work
2:00-3:00 Persuasion
3:00-4:30 Pack/Homework
4:30-Saturday, Service retreat

Saturday:
12:30 return from service retreat
2:00-4:00 work in the baptistry
6:00 group date

Life is going to be crazy for the next few months. I will also find out this month if I'm going to be able to go to Washington DC to visit the Red Cross. Hopefully I will be able to. I really want an internship there. The school is going out there in June. Keep your fingers crossed.

Spring Semester is HERE!

This semester has become one of my favorite semesters ever. I love my ward (the 35th ward), my roommates are the most amazing group of guys I've ever known, I have a new car, braces on my teeth, and the greatest classes. Get Connected was truly the best way to start off this semester. I loved being able to hang out with my best friend Rick for 5 straight days, plus we made such great friends with others on council. I really love that program so much. We had the best time in everything, including "Happy Morning!" What a great week!

I am now deep into the semester. Classes are going well, I'm taking Comm. 352 (Persuasion), Comm. 347 (Advanced Visual Media), Comm. 450 (Conflict Management), Comm. 297R (A Comm. practicum), Family Foundations, Volleyball and Soccer. I love my volleyball class the most. Our coach is great. She is so strict and it really helps me improve my game.
In advanced visual media, our first assignment was to do a self portrait. Here is what I came up with:

I think it turned out pretty well. For my practicum, I'm working with Service Activities as their publicity coordinator. It has been pretty stressful since I have so much to do for it. The blood drive is next week, and the special olympics are coming up. It is hard trying to balance everything, but I'm handling it pretty well. I'm only working 5 hours in the Get Prepared office this semester and 15 in the English Department. I also will be serving in the baptistry in the Rexburg Temple on Friday mornings, and I also got a calling to be a part of the activities committee. This semester is really going to be a great one.

End of Semester

It has been a crazy few weeks, and I am so glad it is over, yet can't really grasp the concept that time is flying so quickly. Spring semester will start in a little over a week and Get Connected starts this week. I have so much work to get ready for it, it's ridiculous. Tomorrow I go to work around 8 or 9. I haven't quite decided what time I want to go in since I am dreading all day. I will probably work until FHE and maybe go back in if I haven't finished. It is insane how much work I actually have. Seems like I slacked off at some point in time, but I really haven't. I told Brother Jones that if they need help next semester I would be able to cut my hours in the English Department and work maybe 5 hours for him and then the 7 week break. I don't know if I really want to do that, but I feel a sense of commitment to my job, and I really love what I do. We'll se how it all works out. As of Friday he hadn't found a replacement for me.

What else is going on in my life? I'm moving this week to my new apartment. It is going to be nice. Stuart and I will be roommates again. He's basically amazing. We've never been room-roommates, so this will be a change, but I'm sure we'll both grow and have a great semester. We're moving back to our old ward and I'm so excited to be with the old bishopric and be able to have a social fun summer. Anyway, I don't have a lot to say today, but just wanted to update everyone as to what is going on in my life.
This is Stu and me sledding. So fun right?
